HWCG required a scene which depicted equipment and technology used during the early phases of a deepwater well blowout response. The best and most efficient method of depicting the subject matter was with a 2D and 3D approach. This meant creating a 2D oceanic scene while compositing the 3D assets to fit and fill the scene. Having the scene set, all that was needed was a universal light source for the 3D assets. Once the lighting, shadows and color were consistent, compositing was achieved with color grading and contrast adjustments. This specific method to creating info graphics allows the content to be easily repurposed for presentations and tradeshow booths or the inclusion or removal of equipment.
